To All Competitors and Parents re Championship 25th April '09
Congratulations to everyone for a brilliant championship on Saturday! We were really impressed by all the effort and enthusiasm that the students put in. However, what pleased us the most was the conduct of the students. Without exception you all behaved as martial artists should, showing support and respect for fellow students, trying your very best and not giving up, and accepting victory and defeat with equal grace. We are so very proud of you all and we're sure your parents must be too!
The Forms competition was of the highest standard seen so far. Every student put in their best effort and demonstrated what they are really capable of. From now on, we shall expect to see the same standard in class every week and won't settle for anything less. If you put as much effort into your forms every lesson as you did on Saturday, imagine how good you will be by the next competition!
Competitors in the Champion of Champion Forms showed exemplary technique and focus in their Forms - well done Thomas for winning in a very tough group.
Well done to those who competed in the Junior Weapons division, you all put in a good performance.
Senior Forms and Weapons catagories went very well and the children and parents very much enjoyed your demonstrations. Thank you for taking part.
The kickboxing was fast and furious and competitors showed great tenacity and stamina in the gruelling early rounds. The winners of each division really had to work hard to earn their place in the final.
Competitors entered the fight for the Title Belt with hope and excitement knowing that, whatever happened, there would be a new Champion of Champions this year. In the end, all the extra preparation and hard work paid off for Nina as she won a hard fought victory.
IF YOU WANT TO WIN THE BELT NEXT YEAR, THE TIME TO START PREPARING IS NOW!!!
Finally I would like to thank the parents for supporting the event. Competition is an important part of training as it puts students under pressure, putting their martial arts abilities to the test. By fighting against people of different grades, ages, heights etc they learn how to adapt what they have learned to cope with the circumstances. We found all of the children to be very resourceful in this respect and were pleased with the way they rose to the challenges they faced.
Thank you also to the adult students for their assistance in running the event, to Roy for the photography and to The Nobel School for the venue and refreshments.
